Overland airline: Photo credit: Daily post                   One of the aircraft belonging to Overland airway a Nigerian airline, that flies to Cotonou, Lomé, Niamey, Abuja, Jalingo, Ibadan, Abuja, Ilorin, Jos on the 12th of October 2018 caught fire during maintenance at the  Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Nigeria. The Edo State government has penciled down more tourist sites and destinations for revamp, following the positive disposition of private developers to invest in the sector. Commissioner for Arts, Culture, Tourism and Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Osazee Osemwingie-Ero, disclosed this to journalists in Benin City, the state capital. According to the commissioner, “We have visited several of our prized tourist sites and destinations, some of them have long been abandoned, some need maintenance while some need revamp, which we intend to do through public private partnership (PPP).” He added that his team has also “visited the Crocodile Lake in Lampese, the Somorika and Ososo Hills. Flydubai launches daily flight from April 15th to Kinshasa International Airport in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo., will operate en-route Entebbe. Hundreds of KFC restaurant across the UK are closed because they ran out of chicken... The cause of the shortage is due to delivery problems experienced as the company switched delivery company from Bidvest to DHL. Bidvest is known to be a leading supplier of logistics and supply solutions. KFC is not sure when the outlets will be opened. DHL has apologized for the inconveniences and stated that they are currently working with their partners QSL(Quick service logistics) and KFC to rectify the problem. 65 people on board Aseman passenger plane crashes in Southern Iran. On Sunday, the airline flying from Tehran went off 50 minutes into flight. The public relation chief of the airline said the death of all passenger cannot be confirmed. On board the plane were 2 pilot, 2 flight attendants, 59 passengers and 2 security officers. The Supreme leader of Iran orders officials to put in more effort in the rescue operations. and expressed condolence to the families of the victims.

A passenger plane from Geneva approaching London Heathrow Airport was hit by a drone. The police is currently carrying out investigation, as this is the first to occur in the United Kingdom. The plane had 132 passengers and 5 crew on board, the airbus A320 landed safely and the pilot confirmed that the front of the aircraft was hit by an object suspected to be a drone. www.ba.com

This will definitely come as a good news to hoteliers especially, as the Federal Government has suspended the payment of tenement fees. Hotels in Nigeria have been finding it difficult to meet up with their tax payment as a result of multi taxation. Currently, they are billed about 41 taxes of which some are duplicated. With this current development, the pressure on hotel owners will reduce. It was stated that the Legislators will look into the bill and decide how they can be harmonized. Hopefully the hotels will start breaking even when this decision comes through.
