New Visa rule on Air France and KLM from 1st January 2021

 



Citizens of certain nationalities including Nigerians and Ghanaians who hold a British visa, long stay visa or British residence permit and who are travelling to the United Kingdom will need airport transit visa from January 1st 2021 if they transit through France and or the Netherlands.

These countries are:
Afghanistan
Angola
Bangladesh
Cameron
Central African Republic
Democratic Republic of Congo
Chad
Republic of Congo
Ivory coast
Cuba
Dominican Republic
Eritrea
Ethiopia
Ghana
Guinea
Haiti
Iran
Iraq
Mali
Mauritania
Nigeria
Pakistan
Philippine
Russia(only Russians coming from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Turkey or Egypt) 
Senegal
Syria
Palestinians with refugee travel documents
Sierra Leone
Somalia
Sudan and South Sudan
Sri Lanka

Exceptions: Citizens of the above mentioned countries holding a visa or residence permit in addition to the UK visa/residence permit from Canada, Japan, the USA or European countries are allowed to transit through France or the Netherlands without an ATV.

ATV applications must be submitted to VFS after making an appointment either with French Embassy in Abuja(visa.abuja-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr) or with the consulate General of France in Lagos (visa.lagos-fslt@siplomatie.gouv.fr). Processing time for these applications requires a minimum of 7days.

Exception for Nigerian Nationals travelling on KLM: The Dutch Minister of Justice and security has decided to waive the ATV requirement for transit at Schiphol Airport for Nigerian Nationals travelling on KLM. The Dutch Minister of Justice and security has decided to waive the ATV requirement for transit at Schiphol airport for Nigerian Nationals(only) with a valid UK visa or Residence permit until February 1st 2021.
