Industrial action against South African Airways

South African Airways (SAA) regrets to announce that South African Cabin Crew Association (SACCA) and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) have given required notice of the intention for their members to embark on industrial action against South African Airways, possibly as early as Friday, November 15, 2019.   In an effort to minimize the impact of the industrial action and disruptions for our customers, SAA has decided to cancel nearly all of its domestic, regional and international flights for Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16, in order to proactively provide alternate accommodations.

This industrial action affects South African Airways flights series #001-#999 only and does not impact flights at Mango (SA #2000 - #2999) or our domestic and regional airline partners, South African Express (SA #1000 - #1999), Airlink (SA #8000 - #8999) or other code share partners with flight series (SA #7000 – 7999).

South African Airways is committed to negotiate with these labor groups to address their concerns and achieve a mutually beneficial resolution and restore our normal operations.   We deeply regret the inconvenience that industrial action will cause for you and your clients.  We will continue to keep you advised on the status of this situation as additional information becomes available.
